What Is Hatha Flow Like?

In Hatha Flow, you’ll experience the breath-to-movement pacing of a short flow sequence of 4-6 postures.  Didn’t get it right the first time?  No worries—everyone has the chance to practice and perfect each sequence by repeating it three times before moving on.  Instructors will give options to help support, sustain, and advance your practice. All Hatha Flow classes focus on balance, flexibility, core work and yummy sustained Yin floor postures.

Who Are Hatha Flow Classes Best For?

Hatha Flow classes are designed to appeal to all fitness levels. From the beginning exerciser who has never taken a yoga class, to the advanced practitioner in the front row, Hatha Flow classes provide an unintimidating, easy-to follow practice with plenty of options for skilled yogis.

Is Hatha Flow a Good Workout?

Hatha Flow strengthens muscles, improves balance, increases flexibility, and sculpts your entire body with a flowing movement pattern that will leave you relaxed, long, and lean.

  • Strength. Hatha Flow sequences link postures that engage both upper and lower body muscles as well as ignite your core. Bodyweight strength work activates muscle fibers in ways that external resistance just can’t.
  • Flexibility. Yoga improves posture, decreases risk of injury, increases physical performance and reduces muscle soreness. Three times through the flow allows you to increase your range of motion every time, creating more room in your joints and openness in your muscles.
  • Balance. Balance is dependent on many factors, including how much you slept the night before or how much stress you’re under.  The good news is that you can improve your balance with practice, and yoga is the perfect opportunity to try!
  • Core Strength. The center of the body, or core, is the key to supporting virtually all physical movement. By engaging the abdominals, the lower back, glutes, hamstrings and quads, the body is able to balance better and move more efficiently.

How Difficult is Hatha Flow?

3/10. Hatha Flow is one of the easiest yoga classes to follow. Because the short, simple sequences are repeated three times, you’ll be able to level up your practice with every round, adding options or simplifying as needed. Work up the sweat, then finish with longer held postures designed to lengthen and de-stress.

How Long Is Each Class?

Hatha Flow is offered in a 60-minute or a 30-minute express format—check the app to find out the length of the class at your location.   Each Hatha Flow class begins with a warm-up of sun salutations, then builds and repeats each sequence three times for the bulk of the class.  As Hatha Flow winds down, longer-held Yin-style poses and relaxation allows the practice to be absorbed into the body.

What Should I Wear?

Cover Your Business.  Typically, people wear fitted clothing what will offer ample coverage and will stay put, even in Downward-Facing Dog postures.

Leave Your Shoes Off. Not only does being barefoot help you with stability, but your overall balance and foot strength will improve as a result of working without shoes or socks on.

What do I need to Bring?

Plan to bring your own yoga mat. A yoga mat is a thin, sticky mat that will allow you to protect your joints without slipping around when you’re in an awkward position. You’ll be gettnig up-close and personal to the floor, so having your own yoga mat for Loaded Yoga and other yoga classes will keep you feeling so fresh and so clean!
